Every time you reprocess an endoscope, put the printout from the AER into a clear plastic sleeve (available at any business supply store) and attach it to the scope with a thick rubber band. The printout shows the scope's serial num- ber, the date it was processed, which tech processed it and that all steriliza- tion parameters were met. Then, after the scope is used, the circulat- ing nurse takes the printout out of the sleeve and tapes it into the patient's permanent record and the process starts again. Tara Bean, CST Bayonet Point Surgery & Endoscopy Center Hudson, Fla. tara.bean@hcahealthcare.com z FOR THE RECORD Each AER printout stays with the scope and eventually becomes part of the patient's permanent record.
