IDEAS That Work
CARE TO SHARE?
Silence Meeting Mutterers
D
o you have a
staff member
who sits in the
back of a meeting and
talks under her breath
while you're speaking?
Here how to handle
that obnoxious behavior — stop talking.
The employee hasn't
been paying attention,
so she'll probably still
be talking when you
stop, and her voice
will be the only one in
the room. Ask her if
she'd like to share
what she's saying with
everyone, as obviously
it's important to her.
The reaction is usually one of silence on her part, and
you can continue with the meeting. If the chatting continues, repeat the sequence. If you ignore these meeting
mutterers, they win, and that's unacceptable.
