IDEAS THAT WORK
SOMETHING NICE TO SAY
Start Your Staff Meetings
on a Positive Note
START WITH A SMILE Open your staff meetings with commendations.
ings
are the perfect setting to
critique and
correct your
employees,
but we prefer
to start every
weekly staff meeting with a rundown of last week's most positive
moments to highlight. Examples: The staffer who covered another's
patients during an unexpected absence, helped others to navigate the
new EMR system or jump-started a patient escort's car; or the patient
who wrote to thank the center for pre- and post-op warming efforts.
After my remarks, we open the floor to staff members if they have
good words to contribute. When you recognize positive behavior, you
reinforce it.
