including bomb
threats, severe weath-
er and fires. The chart
is divided into color-
coded categories and
features an easy-to-
read, large font.
The charts are hung
in 3 locations — pre-
op, the common area
outside the ORs and in the back of the facility — so one is always
a few steps away when the unexpected happens.
"Everyone knows where they're located," says Janet Jones,
BSN, RN, a pre-op nurse at the center. "During emergencies,
when the adrenaline starts pumping, it's hard to remember what
to do. The charts provide a step-by-step guide to direct our
response. It provides important details without being too compli-
