Fabrics That Fight Infection
Prime Medical's SAF-T line of privacy curtains, scrubs, patient
gowns, bed linens and towels may look like conventional healthcare
textiles, but they do more than just hang around. Their patented
BioSmart fabric technology harnesses the power of chlorine to kill
99.9% of the bacteria and viruses that make contact with them, says
the company. A bleach wash during the manufacturing process binds
chlorine molecules to the fabric's surface, which provides up to 120
days of continuous bactericidal effect. Laundering the products with
EPA-registered household chlorine bleach will recharge them, with-
out loss of effectiveness and without fading colors, says the company.
