all."
While she's not
immune to day-to-day
stress, Ms. Dayton
says there's no place
she'd rather be, for
which she credits her
team. "I truly love my
job because of the
people, my staff,
physicians and
patients. Our patient
satisfaction surveys
speak for themselves,"
she says. "My salary
may be at the lower
end of the average, but my job satisfaction is at the extreme end of
highly satisfied."
Ms. Winkelman agrees. "Although money is important, job satisfac-
tion means more to me," she says, adding that the support of her hos-
pital's administration makes that a possibility. She says she plans to
work another 8 years or so, past retirement age. "It's good to be active
as long as you enjoy what you're doing."

• ROLES AND REGULATIONS "I used to be able to do my role as a manager and
also as a staff member at the same time," says Jackie Dayton, RN. "Now, 75% of my
job is making sure regulatory things get done on a daily basis."
