reate a monthly coding
newsletter to send to sur-
geons that includes CPT-
specific information about proce-
dures they commonly perform at
your facility. Break down a single
code each month, noting potential
issues — or previously identified
problems — to ensure procedures
are coded properly, so surgeons and
your facility are reimbursed fully. The
communication is a nice service that
improves physician satisfaction and
will be key to the successful implementation of ICD-10 in October.

o keep those little kiddos in your reception room happy, make sure to have on
hand boxes of non-toxic crayons (that we let the little ones keep) and coloring
pages. Many web sites will let you print off free coloring sheets, and you can find
8-count boxes of crayons for less than a dollar. It is not fun to sit and wait in a reception room,
especially when you are a kid, so why not make it more entertaining by giving the little ones
something to do? The smiles on their faces when we give them their own coloring books and
crayons are priceless. Plus, the parents or guardians of that child are also very grateful.
