acetaminophen, for example — and to add others with varied mechanisms of
action as the situation dictates. Steroids and local anesthetics, for example, help
create synergistic pain relief with few side effects. The more you can minimize
opioids, even as an adjunct, the more you'll reduce dynamic pain, improve long-
term outcomes, facilitate recovery and improve patient satisfaction.
