3. Make it automatic. It's reassuring to know that AERs have mechanisms to ensure each cycle of reprocessing is completed. Some AERs automate leak testing. That's nice, because manual testing can be a subjective process that could result in missed leaks. Some AERs also stop cycles if scopes aren't connected correctly, the proper pressure gra- dient isn't reached, exposure to the high-level disinfectant is jeopardized or blockage occurs in one of the channels. AERs that prevent the next step of reprocessing if some aspect of the cycle isn't working properly can stop improperly disinfected scopes from being used unknowingly. Relying on the advanced design of these units can help ensure scopes will be disinfected to the highest level. Plus, AERs with multiple bays that can run independently may allow for improved reprocessing efficiency. Fort Worth Endoscopy Center leverages ProVation ® MD to Simplify GIQuIC Registry Process ProVation MD streamlines data collection and submission by first guiding physicians through the process of capturing required, conditionally required and optional quality data elements. Then, the query tool organizes the data into formats that can be submitted to the GIQuIC registry, resulting in data capture and reporting capabilities for improved quality initiatives and benchmarking. For a midsize facility, automating data collection with the query tool can mean a time savings of up to 40–60 hours annually. PROBLEM SOLUTION Fort Worth Endoscopy Center found that monitoring quality data in a paper-based environment was both too labor-intensive and time consuming. Handwritten or dictated reports resulted in inconsistent or incomplete data, and evaluation was complex and took too much time. ProVation MD provides a streamlined data solution to FWEC physicians, which improves practice effi ciency, compliance with evidence-based medicine and the ability to measure performance and outcomes against internal and national benchmarks. " ProVation ® MD has built in a decision-support tool so that if I've forgotten to complete all quality elements in the report, such as surveillance interval, I'll be reminded to do that," said FWEC Medical Director Tom Deas, Jr., M.D. "It's more consistent in data collection and reporting. It's very simple. We do a procedure. We do a report. The vast majority of the fields are collected as part of the report. It's very easy, efficient and reliable."
