You can then remove the patient identification label by placing your finger under the blank, folded label. • Create a pull-tab. As pictured in photos 2a and 2b, fold one corner of the patient identification label when placing it on the infusion bag to create a pull-tab, which you can then use to remove the ID label. Brenda Winski, RN Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Johnstown, Pa. bwinski@conemaugh.org IDEAS That Work LEADS AND CUFFS Hook Patients Up in Pre-Op O ur admitting RN places cardiac leads and blood pressure cuffs on patients in pre-op during patient admission, saving time in procedural areas. We have enough leads and cuffs in the pre- post unit to do this with every patient. When the patient arrives in the proce- dural area, all we have to do is connect the monitors to the patient. We used to wait until the patient was in the room to hook up the leads and cuffs. We'd also have to clean them between patients. Andrea Mallery, RN, CNOR Olean (N.Y.)
