Robotics continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in
such specialties as general surgery and orthopedics. Some see
remote controlled, self-propelled colonoscopes as the basis for

Robotics, for example, could improve a physician's ability to remove
complex lesions from the colon wall, a difficult task made even more
challenging as each breath the patient takes causes the wall to move
ever so slightly.

that essentially match the breaths of the patient for a more careful
