Those benefits trans- late into a more fluid and comfortable oper- ating environment and safer surgery, accord- ing to Dr. Weinstock. He says heads-up dis- plays contribute to faster room turnovers because nurses don't have to spend valu- able minutes making sure a surgical micro- scope and the patient's bed are positioned just so. Patients' pre-op data captured in the clinic and intraoperative aber- rometry can be displayed on one-third of the display screen, points out Dr. Weinstock. "I can see and reference the information without looking away from the screen," he explains. "The integrated technology contin- ues to improve, so surgeons will have access to pre-op information while operating with any heads-up visualization system." One U.S. manufacturer has introduced a 4K-3D video microscope. The heads-up visualization system combines 4K resolution with a 3D view. The 3D image from the microscope is shown on a large 4K mon- itor. To see the 3D image, you must wear specialized goggles. The manufacturer of this new system says that the microscope's images can enable more accurate surgery by providing high-resolution 3D imaging of tissue structure, blood vessels and other anatomy. 3.
