It's time- consuming trying to read the small print for the expiration date to avoid using an expired implant. We place color-coded stickers on each box with the year of expiration. A quick look is all that's needed to see the large black numbers and the specific color for a given year. It's a bit of work on the front end but now that our entire implant inventory is labeled like this, it's very manageable with the incoming implants we store. We even put the labels on the emer- gency drugs and IV bags in our crash cart so we can easily check if something is expired and should be replaced.
