O
ur facility stocks thousands
— maybe even tens of
thousands — of ocular lens
implants at any given time. It's time-
consuming trying to read the small
print for the expiration date to avoid
using an expired implant. We place
color-coded stickers on each box
with the year of expiration. A quick
look is all that's needed to see the
large black numbers and the specific color for a given year. It's a bit of
work on the front end but now that our entire implant inventory is
labeled like this, it's
very manageable with
the incoming implants
we store. We even put
the labels on the emer-
gency drugs and IV
bags in our crash cart
so we can easily check
if something is expired
and should be
replaced.
