"You must prioritize investing in solutions that will improve staff and patient safety or eliminate an infection control risk," says Ms. Williams. "There's more to developing a budget than money. All aspects of a purchase must be considered." A constant juggling act Ms. Williams is in charge of the central sterile department and the pre- op and PACU. She's also the facility's risk manager and infection pre- ventionist, and serves as a circulating nurse when the regulars call out.
