techs double-
bag sharp
instruments in peel
packs, worrying that
the sharpness will
poke through the
plastic during steril-
ization. This is obvi-
ously against stan-
dard procedures.
The solution is sim-
ple: Place sharp
instruments in
instrument protec-
tors that feature a
transparent pouch
that secures the tip
of the instrument,
keeping it from pok-
ing through a single
bag during the sterilization process. Plus, there's an added
bonus — the protectors will keep the instrument open in the bag,
making the sterilization far more effective.
