ere's another way to put your integrated OR and state-of-the-
art HD monitors to good use: play cartoons and movies for
kids before surgery to ease their fears. Our monitors are
mounted on pivoting booms. Operated by touch-screen technology, the
monitors' integrated video/audio systems serve multiple functions, from
projecting live video feeds of our scopes to greeting patients with soft
music and dim lights. Since May, though, our nurses have also turned
them into entertainment centers. Using the same controls we use dur-
ing surgery, we can stream cartoons and movies for children from the
web onto the monitors. With their easy mobility, they swing right to the
bedside. It's proven to be a great way to put kids at ease before surgery.
