The price tag
Power tools are among an orthopedic facility's most expensive pur-
chases. Depending on the tool and the manufacturer, you could be
looking at a price tag of more than $30,000 each. Although cost is absolutely
an important consideration, you don't want to sacrifice accuracy or preci-
sion. That's why you should try tools from several different vendors before
making a purchase decision.
If you work in an ASC that doesn't have the same budget as the local hospi-
tal, you may need to get creative during purchase negotiations. Consider fold-
ing the price of other instruments, saw blades and burrs into the cost of the
new power tool.
