DePuy Synthes | Speedtrap Graft Prep System
Quick, safe and easy: This handy little cage-like device lets a surgeon
whipstitch soft-tissue grafts in no time flat. It's also needle-less, mean-
ing you can have strong graft tension but without suture piercing or
other graft damage that's associated with needle grafts.
How it works: Once you make your incision and retrieve the tendon,
you orient the device with the suture tails distal to the graft end and
pass the graft through all the suture loops till the graft end is flush
with the jaws of the device. Then clamp it closed and pull both ends
of the suture, one at a time, till every suture loop wraps tightly around
the tendon. Then remove the tendon using a tendon stripper, and use
the Speedtrap to make the same suture wraps on the other end of the
tendon. Voilà. Your tendon is prepped for grafting, all in 20 seconds or
so.
