Magnetically Retract and Maneuver the Gallbladder
The Levita Magnetic Surgical System takes a novel approach to
laparoscopic cholecystectomy. As the first magnetic surgical technol-
ogy to receive FDA clearance, the Levita system uses a magnetic
grasper device with a detachable tip to grasp the gallbladder and
then retract it by way of a magnetic controller. The disposable device
eliminates the need for a dedicated trocar and shafted instrumenta-
tion. Because the surgery does not damage the abdominal wall,
patients will experience less bleeding, reduced post-procedure pain
and less visible scarring.
