No Need to Remove Clothing
Before Cataract Surgery
T
o save time and
ease the stress
of surgery, we
don't ask cataract
patients to remove
their clothing before
surgery. Instead, we
instruct them to wear a
loose-fitting top so that
we can easily attach
monitor leads and
place a hospital gown
on top of their clothes.
Not only is it comfort-
ing for patients to
remain in regular attire
during surgery, but it
also saves time. It
takes a patient 5 to 10
minutes to remove her clothes and change into a hospital gown. If
you do 3 to 4 cataract surgeries an hour, 5 minutes here or there
can save you a lot of time.
