device's energy output, heat from the electrosurgery tip can travel through, and
potentially burn, adjacent tissue while the targeted vessels are cut and sealed.
Surgeons should be conservative with the energy settings that they use to
better control output. They should use lower settings when practical, and the
nurse or tech who plugs in and sets up the device can give a verbal confirma-
tion of the settings before passing the handpiece to the surgeon.
