e had a recurring problem with escorts taking a ride down-
town to stay busy during their patient's surgery, only to
then get stuck in the notorious traffic of the Bay Area and
run late. To encourage escorts to stay close by, while also letting them
run errands or grab something to eat during the wait, we created a
map that highlights restaurants, banks and other spots located within
15 minutes of the surgery center. Every patient's family gets a copy
when they arrive. Since we've implemented the maps, there's been a
noticeable decrease in the number of patients lingering in PACU as
their family sits in downtown traffic.
