O
ur surgical team debriefs at the end of every procedure to
discuss what went right and what could have gone better.
Staff members are invited to submit their ideas for improve-
ment on small squares of paper. To keep them in the loop as we
assess the proposed action items, we created a stoplight bulletin
board divided into 3 segments: red for the suggestions we're unable to
resolve, yellow for the suggestions we're working on and green for the
suggestions that have been implemented. The staff now knows we're
listening to their feedback and can check the bulletin board to track
the progress of their proposed changes.
