Automatically Remove Air Bubbles in IV Lines
The AirPurge System, the first stand-alone air bubble removal device, traps and disposes
of air bubbles automatically. When installed on the IV pole just below a fluid/blood
warmer, the AirPurge unobtrusively monitors the IV line attached to the device for any air
bubbles, which it then diverts to a built-in reservoir and disposes of in a collection bag,
says the company, Anesthesia Safety Products. The device removes air bubbles from IV
lines as small as 25 micro-liters at high (600 ml/min) or low infusion rates. The AirPurge
runs on single-use, disposable cartridges.
