atients undergoing arthroplasty are at increased risk of
surgical site infections, with 1 out of every 100 develop-
ing an infection in the wound or in the joint space. It's
a serious and costly complication. The expense of
treating an SSI in the joint is astronomical and eliminat-
ing the infection may require additional surgeries. Follow these pre-
ventive strategies to employ the best defense against SSIs in a group
of patients that require increased vigilance.
