W
ant to cut your staffing costs? Simply change
your pay period from a traditional Monday
through Friday to a Tuesday through
Monday. The trouble with a Monday-Friday pay period is
that Mondays tend to be slow, while it's not unusual for staff to work 10-
plus hours on Fridays. This can wreak havoc on your staffing costs. When
the pay period starts on a Monday, staff want to work a full day to ensure
they hit 40 hours a week. By the time Friday rolls around, some of our
your staff have already worked 35 hours and are in for a long day.
A Tuesday-Monday pay period makes a big difference. After a busy
Thursday and Friday in the OR, staff can come in on a Monday knowing
they can head home
when their cases are
finished, without sacri-
ficing their 40 hours.
Our employees appreci-
ate having a short day
that doesn't affect their
paycheck, and we like
that paying overtime to
our 60 employees
across 2 centers is
exceedingly rare.
