The device is designed to easily snap onto the end of any colonoscope and features 2 side cameras that work with the scope's traditional, forward-viewing camera to offer a full panoramic view. Physicians tend to favor their own particular scope, and this cap lets them use what they're most comfortable with. While originally designed as a single-use device — which can add expense to each case — the company is now working on a reusable model, which is a more appealing option, cost-wise. Panoramic views are the focus for the future of colonoscopy, but improve- ments like narrow-band imaging (NBI) and easy-to-retroflex scopes have also offered better views of the colon in recent years. One manufacturer promises that its new scope makes retroflexing possible in nearly any part of the colon Fort Worth Endoscopy Center leverages ProVation ® MD to Simplify GIQuIC Registry Process ProVation MD streamlines data collection and submission by first guiding physicians through the process of capturing required, conditionally required and optional quality data elements. Then, the query tool organizes the data into formats that can be submitted to the GIQuIC registry, resulting in data capture and reporting capabilities for improved quality initiatives and benchmarking. For a midsize facility, automating data collection with the query tool can mean a time savings of up to 40–60 hours annually. PROBLEM SOLUTION Fort Worth Endoscopy Center found that monitoring quality data in a paper-based environment was both too labor-intensive and time consuming. Handwritten or dictated reports resulted in inconsistent or incomplete data, and evaluation was complex and took too much time. ProVation MD provides a streamlined data solution to FWEC physicians, which improves practice effi ciency, compliance with evidence-based medicine and the ability to measure performance and outcomes against internal and national benchmarks. " ProVation ® MD has built in a decision-support tool so that if I've forgotten to complete all quality elements in the report, such as surveillance interval, I'll be reminded to do that," said FWEC Medical Director Tom Deas, Jr., M.D. "It's more consistent in data collection and reporting. It's very simple. We do a procedure. We do a report. The vast majority of the fields are collected as part of the report. It's very easy, efficient and reliable."
