Simulator Lets Surgeons
Practice Robotic Surgery Skills
3D Systems has created the first hands-on, complete procedural training sim-
ulator for robotic surgery to prepare surgeons for the expanding field of robot-
ic surgery. The Simbionix RobotiX Mentor lets surgeons of different levels and
specialties train for everything from basic skills and suturing to complete
robotic procedures. The company says it was developed with the help of
those in the medical community, and its 3D HD stereoscopic personal display
features lifelike graphics. It can also work with the company's online simulator
management system, MentorLearn, which allows trainers to customize cur-
riculum and set goals.
