emoving excess povidone-iodine scrub lets you quickly identify
post-op skin integrity issues such as cyanosis, redness and mot-
tling. But the friction needed to wipe off the solution can lead to
issues for the elderly and patients with existing or pre-existing skin
sensitivity issues. Here's how to remove the scrub solution and prevent
further skin irritation and damage.
1. Place a surgical towel saturated with warm normal saline over
excess prepping solution for at least 20 to 30 seconds to fully moisten
the area.
2. Use the same towel to gently wipe away remaining solution.
3. Use a dry towel to gently wipe and pat the area dry.
