5. Maintain latex safety processes. While you move clos- er to becoming a latex-safe facility, it's important not to let any latex-safety poli- cies and procedures suffer in the process. As a safety measure, it's still important to assess every patient for latex allergies. We continue to ask all patients if they know whether they have a latex allergy. If they do, we ask about the severity of their reac- tion to latex, and notate this on the sur- gical schedule in our anecdotal notes.
