STAFF APPRECIATION
Star Staff Get Prime Parking Spot
Looking for a way to show appreciation for your staff and to encourage their best behavior? Each month, award your best parking spot to your star employee. That's what we do with our "Bright Star" program. Employees can nominate a colleague for a bright star by filling out a nomination form (download ours at www.outpatientsurgery.net/forms) whenever they see a staffer lending a helping hand or going the extra mile. They place the forms in a basket in my office. Whoever has the most recognitions is the "bright star" for that month. The prize is the closest parking spot near the back entrance — about 10 feet from the door. I also place the winner's name on a big sign in front of the spot for the month. At first I thought it would be kind of childish, but it's grown on our staff and they appreciate the close parking.
