An Ultrasonic Device That's Ultra-Versatile
The Harmonic line of ultrasonic devices provides precise tissue dissection in
general, colorectal and other types of surgery, but physicians looking to seal
larger vessels have had to reach for advanced bipolar devices to finish the
job. Until now: The FDA has approved the Harmonic Ace+ 7 Shears with
advanced hemostasis, which are able to seal vessels as large as 7mm. By
eliminating instrument exchanges, the device boosts surgeons' confidence in
vessel sealing, and by reducing the need for staplers, clips, endoloops or
other energies to achieve hemostasis, it delivers case-cost savings. The
Harmonic Ace+ 7 is scheduled for a 2014 launch.
