When St. Cloud launched its outpatient total joints program in 2014,
orthro vendors didn't offer the types of consulting options they do
today. In the 5 years since, St. Cloud has replaced some 1,200 joints —
and found ways to get more from its major equipment and implant
supplier. "Our vendor will sometimes help pay the cost of a patient
education seminar," says Darci Nagorski, St. Cloud's administrator
and CEO. "It's not a lot, but if it can help defray some of our costs,
that helps our program."
The vendor will also supply seminar attendees with some of the
printed educational materials they take home from the seminars.
While marketing help from an ortho vendor can certainly help your
facility, Ms. Nagorski urges facilities to use caution because there are
rules and regulations governing what you can and can't do with your
