But what if the underglove is perforated as well? MedArmor's solution is billed as a "cut-resistant" underglove made of Kevlar, a material normally used by first respon- ders and ER staff due to its exceptional strength — 26 times more cut-resistant than latex, and 5 times as strong as steel. The yellow, unlined gloves feature a knit wrist cuff and can be sterilized, enabling them to be reused safely up to 5 times. The company says the gloves, most frequently used in high-infection-risk procedures such as orthopedic and podiatric surgeries, are hypo-allergenic, and will not melt, ignite or conduct electricity. The tradeoff of using such a strong underglove, it would seem, would be reduced comfort and dexterity, but the company says that isn't the case, and claims that because the gloves are designed to pull sweat away from the hands, a latex outer glove will stay in place.
