Hub of Activity
Each of the facility's 7 ORs are 600 square feet and outfitted with
some of surgery's hottest technologies, including robotics and
smart imaging capabilities that wirelessly stream videos displayed
on several big-screen, 4K high-definition monitors. Equipment
hangs on booms and frequently used instruments are kept in easy-
to-clean stainless-steel cabinets. Separate rooms that house sterile
instruments and extra equipment are steps away. Long windows
line the walls of 2 ORs where staff and surgeons enjoy working in
natural light. Lowering glass-enclosed shades darkens the rooms
during arthroscopy cases. Interestingly, individual rooftop HVAC
units control the laminar flow in a single OR, instead of the stan-
dard 2 rooms, so only 1 suite is offline if a unit malfunctions.
