VERA's Virtual Physical Therapy
An engaging avatar named VERA (Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation
Assistant) can conduct on-demand physical therapy sessions for your
patients as they recover from surgery from the comforts of home.
VERA's 3D motion-capture technology, which instructs and records
exercise performance, measures 26 joints and limbs in motion, 30
times per second, and provides audio-visual feedback, says the com-
pany. It also enables telehealth visits with physical therapists. Study
results (osmag.net/jG9CmH) demonstrated an average cost savings
of $2,745 per total knee replacement patient for those who received
virtual physical therapy using VERA with clinical oversight when com-
pared with usual care with traditional home- or clinic-based PT.
