that money isn't everything.
While surgical center administra-
tors made slightly more than
managers of outpatient surgical
services in hospitals, both groups
have grown frustrated with the
amount of work they do and the
number of responsibilities they
have in order to take home that
6-figure salary. Although many
leaders feel underpaid and
undervalued, many more are
grateful for the people they work
alongside and the patients they
care for. At the end of the (long)
day, they can't put a price on
working in a rewarding career
