• The ClearLine IV is designed to con-
tinuously and automatically detect and
remove air in IV lines, says ClearLine
MD. This is interesting technology that's
obviously of great value to neonatal
patients, because they can't tolerate any
sort of air in their circulation. Most
adults can withstand a little bit of air in
the IV, but patients with undiagnosed
PFO (patent foramen ovale) could be
more at risk. I think it would also be
useful in trauma cases where you're
switching IVs a lot and not necessarily
able to pay as much attention to possi-
ble air in the lines.
• Here's a small-footprint video laryn-

transmit to an iPhone, an iPad, or an
Android device. It has 3 light settings
and 6 different configurations, can
take pictures and videos, and is
reusable. Just wipe it down the way
you would any reusable laryngoscope
handle.
